Preparing a eulogy for a loved one could be a daunting task. Something they know would make the deceased proud to hear of.
Even if you do not suffer from public speaking nerves, it would be a good idea to practice giving your eulogy in front of a family member or a friend. The speaker has to be careful how to represent the loved one and should be aware they have the responsibility of keeping it light hearted. If you were very close to the person who died and you are expected to stand up in church or at the graveside to recite a poem, make sure that you have a supporter.
This may include a request for a certain person to perform the service, the choosing of particular flowers, and even the selection of funeral music. You only have one chance to collect everyone s memories. Many families and friends choose to write their own poems or essays about the deceased to have read at memorial services or posted on online memorial sites.
Writing a eulogy should not be taken lightly. Think about your life and what would you like most remembered.
